PURPOSE MISSION COMMITMENT

Purpose: With Jesus Christ as our focus, the spread of gospel as our purpose, modern media as the tool, videos and literature of high quality and wide horizons as the pursuit, our commitment is to influence people's hearts and to awaken their souls.

Mission: Let vision be transformed into pictures. Let God's light shine upon China, the Land of God. Let history become truthful records.

Commitment: With the earnestness of loving God and compatriots, we commit and dedicate ourselves to evangelistic mission. We are coworkers of the same ministry in one accord, and spiritual companions to edify one another as well. We are fellow-passengers along the heavenly road, sharing the happiness and afflictions. Each of us, with a prayerful heart as well as God's grace, is devoted to perform our respective duties to glorify God and benefit people in our lives and ministry.

STATEMENT OF FAITH

We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.

We believe in the one, true and living God, eternally existing in three persons-Father, Son and the Holy Spirit.

We believe in God the Father, the Creator, Ruler and Sustainer of heaven and earth and everything therein.

We believe in God the Son, Jesus Christ, true God and true man, conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He died on the cross and shed His blood as an atonement for the sins of men, and was raised bodily from the dead. He ascended into heaven, sat at the right hand of the Majesty on High. He now is our High Priest and Advocate. We believe in His imminent return according to His promise.

We believe Jesus Christ is the radiance of God’s glory and no one comes to the Father except through Him.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Third Person of the Godhead, who is of one substance, equal in power, and co-existent with the Father and the Son. His ministry is to convict men, regenerate the believing sinners, and to indwell, guide, instruct and empower the believers for godly living and service.

We believe that man was created in the image and the likeness of God, but in Adam all men have fallen into sin, and as sinners men cannot save themselves, but are in need of God's salvation.

We believe that penitent sinners are regenerated solely by God's grace and justified through faith in Jesus Christ.

We believe that there shall be a bodily resurrection of the believers to eternal life, and of the non-believers to eternal punishment.

We believe that the church is one body, consisting of those regenerated by the Spirit of God and of which Christ is the Head, expressing itself in worship, fellowship, evangelism and servic

INTRODUCTION TO THE ORGANIZATION

At the end of 1998, the scriptwriting of the TV serial "China's Confession" from the book "China's Confession ¢wGod and Five Thousand Years of China" was completed. Then Wenjie Xie, Dazhu Qian, Daxiong Wang, Yian Liu and Zhiming Yuan formed China Soul, Inc to begin making the TV serial.

In June 1999, the office of the company was moved from Zhming Yuan's home in Los Angeles in southern California to Petaluma in northern California. In October, the company became a non-profit organization, and its name was changed to "China Soul for Christ Foundation."

In June 2000, the complete edition of the TV serial was finished, and made into videotape, cassette, VCD and DVD. We received exhilarating responses. In January 2001, the abridged gospel edition of the TV serial, with both Chinese and English subtitles, was available.

At present, we are producing a large scale TV serial "The Cross", an English edition of the TV serial "China's Confession" as well as a TV series on evangelistic topics.

TV SERIAL "CHINA'S CONFESSION"

There are 7 episodes in the TV serial "China's Confession". A brief summary is as follows:

  2. Gives account of the unimaginable historical evolution of ancient China.
  3. Represents the tragic destiny of self-infliction and exploitation of China in the following 2500 years of its history.
  4. Represents the Chinese painstakingly attempting to reach salvation through human efforts, and the glorious light of heavenly Dao.
  5. Represents the early valuable contacts between China and the West as well as the spiritual communication.
  6. Reveals the bewilderment, struggle and difficult search for China's outlook since the Opium War.
  7. Represents the bitter lessons of the past fifty years, the hidden crisis of today and the solutions for tomorrow.

GOSPEL AND ENGLISH EDITIONS OF THE TV SERIAL "CHINA'S CONFESSION"

For the sake of furtherance in gospel mission, we took pains to eliminate parts of the contents in the original TV serial that are hard to comprehend . We have condensed the TV serial into a copy of essentials, basically retaining the teachings of the gospel, with both Chinese and English subtitles. The length is one and a half hours. We hope God will use of this abridged copy to enlighten more lost souls of our compatriots. The original TV serial, in complete edition, will continue to be available. In addition, the English edition of TV serial, which consists of two parts, is in the process of being translated and edited. The length will be three hours. The completion date is expected to be in the winter of 2001.

VIEWERS RESPONSE TO THE TV SERIAL "CHINA'S CONFESSION"

Only a few months after the TV serial "China's Confession" was available on the market, to our surprise, its impact reached far and wide. This is unusual in Chinese church history. It is a result beyond human effort. Evidently, this achievement is God's work.

In May 2000, when the completion of the TV serial "China's Confession" became known, "Chinesenewsnet.com" proclaimed that the serial sent out a dynamic message: "Replace hate with love; replace mutual annihilation with peace and forgiveness." Undoubtedly, the message serves as the key for solving the China issue. This website presented excerpts of the TV serial, and published a series of scripts. Furthermore, Zhiming Yuan was invited to participate in conversation with web surfers for three hours.

Instantly, news concerning the TV serial appeared in the media, such as the "United Daily News" in Taiwan and the "World Journal" in the United States. The "World Journal Weekly Magazine" published a special report on the serial. "Voice of America" and other stations in European countries, such as France and Germany, broadcast special interviews, and the events were transmitted to Mainland China. "Radio Free Asia", sponsored by the U.S. Congress, produced seven half-hour programs also broadcasted to Mainland China.

In June, the "Taiwan TV Station" was the first to show the TV serial, and the audience response was exhilarating. As the serial was replayed in July, Zhiming Yuan was invited to Taiwan to attend a seminar on "China's Confession." Eminent scholars, like Bo Yang and others, were present at the seminar. Reports concerning the occasion appeared in Taiwan media time and again.

The "Hong Kong Cable TV" also showed parts of the TV serial. It was told that the Hong Kong edition of "China's Confession" would be released soon. At the premier of the TV serial, sponsored by cities in the United States and Canada, viewers were so touched that many accepted Jesus as their savior after the show. In eastern Canada, at an evangelist meeting after the premier, more than a hundred people stood up to express their faith in Jesus Christ. A Christian in Toronto said enthusiastically, "I used to think that the Bible was a holy classic of the Israelites. Now I know the Bible belongs to Chinese people also." Many Chinese newspapers and TV stations gave special reports on the occasion also.

In July and August, Zhiming Yuan traveled to Southeast Asian countries, like Singapore, Malaysia, and Philippines, on an evangelist mission. The TV serial was also shown during these meetings. Such occasions were so touching that those who saw it said they would never hardly forget it. When the TV serial was shown at a Malaysian seminary, more than one hundred pastors and students responded with warm applause.

When Zhiming Yuan was presiding over evangelistic meetings in North America, the sponsors of the meetings often showed the TV serial. An indelibly moving scene occurred at a retreat, sponsored jointly by the churches and fellowships in northeasten states. At the end of the serial, the whole audience rose for a standing ovation, with enthusiastic applause. Rev. Shenzhu Chow, with tears in his eyes, came over and grasped Zhiming Yuan's hands tightly.

The most thankful event is that God let the TV serial be shown widely, in the native land of the Chinese, Mainland China. Many overseas Christians and non-believers brought the TV serial back with them to their own town, as many as thousands of copies. Those who received the gift made copies and passed them on to friends and relatives. Gladly, many house church leaders were able to see the TV serial. Brother Yuntsi Hsu, just released from jail, was overwhelmed after seeing the TV serial. It has also been passed around among college fellowships.

In fact, as we have anticipated, the primary impact of the TV serial is in the vast expanse of society, not just among the churches. The July issue of the newspaper "Lianhe Zaobao" of Singapore, published an article written by a postgraduate of Beijing Normal University. In the article, the writer quoted a profusion of captions of the serial. His article was supposed to be a criticism, but actually he was passing on the contents to the public. A well-known movie director, who watched the serial late into the night, said, "A Mainlander's perspective of values will be changed, if he or she sees the TV serial."

TV SERIAL "GOSPEL AND TESTIMONY"

China Soul for Christ Foundation, with the equipment and working personnel we have today, intends to make a serial on the gospel and the testimonies of students and scholars from Mainland China. Our first serial on the gospel will consist of 24 lectures, 12 by Bincheng Feng and the other 12 by Zhiming Yuan. Supplemented with pictures, the length of each lecture is one hour. The serial will be in the form of video tapes, VCD and cassettes. We hope that this serial will serve as a powerful and convenient tool for the gospel to reach out to our compatriots all over the world.

DOCUMENTARY FILM "THE CROSS - JESUS IN CHINA"

During past decades, the news of acknowledging Jesus Christ as our savior has been exalted and shining in the churches in Mainland China, which are under repression. This has roused tremendous reaction among the people, Christians and non-believers, in domestic China and abroad. We are fully aware that God is at work. We deeply feel that it is our responsibility to record truthfully God's amazing grace: how such boundless grace falls upon this ancient country of wide expanse and abundant legacy; how God baptizes hundreds of thousands of His sons and daughters with fire and the Holy Spirit; how His sons and daughters go out weeping and return with songs of joy; why that "piece of wood under fire does not burn" has become "a person who is not worthy to the world." To other people, the unique events that occur in this country with its long cultural heritage are still vague and blurred. Therefore, the TV serial "The Cross", a factual historic record, will expand the tale, from the coming of western missionaries in early days to this present generation, during which emerge pacesetters like Xiao Yung, the author of "Selected Poems of Canaan".

When the atheist government authorities announced that house churches were heresy, doubt, misunderstanding and repression continued to fall upon God's children. We feel it is our duty to testify to the pure faith of sisters and brothers in Mainland China. Therefore, the TV serial "The Cross" is going to be a solemn confirmation of their belief, which is definitely not heresy nor superstition. Their faith lies in the gospel of redemption.

Though China today is enjoying an economic boom and upgrading its military power, the atheist government either overlooks or succumbs to the unorthodox doctrines and to those aimless souls. We Christians, who have been granted spiritual life, feel we have the obligation to impart Jesus Christ's compassion and invitation to our fellow compatriots. "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me." (John 7:37) Therefore, the TV serial "The Cross" is a call with profound compassion for lost souls. The call is to every thirsty soul.

The documentary film "The Cross - Jesus in China" will be composed of testimonies, songs and explanations, accompanied with real scenery. Our aim is to touch people with true feeling, to convince people with facts, to affect people with the Holy Spirit, to lead people to dedicate themselves to serving God.
